Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
A Bengaluru-bound Air India Express flight was cancelled at Vijayawada airport on Thursday after the aircraft suffered a bird strike while taxiing for takeoff. Officials said the incident occurred when an eagle hit the nose of the plane before departure.
The aircraft, which was preparing to operate the Vijayawada-Bengaluru service, was forced to return to the bay. As a precautionary measure, the airline cancelled the flight, leaving around 90 passengers stranded.
In a statement, Air India Express confirmed the cancellation, citing the suspected bird strike as the cause. The airline expressed regret over the inconvenience and assured that all affected passengers were provided with options, including free rescheduling or full refunds.
Officials emphasised that the bird strike happened before takeoff and safety was not compromised. Alternate arrangements for passengers are being made.
